Our Mission
Our mission is to guide young individuals toward resourceful, new, positive life choices by providing multifaceted trade skills and alternative healthy physical outlets, enabling them to achieve their personal career goals.
Grab the Gloves is working towards a
nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering urban and inner-city youths, by providing a comprehensive martial arts and fitness program. Our mission is to offer healthy outlets for physical activity and personal development, steering young individuals away from negative influences such as gang involvement, drugs and gun violence. Through partnerships with organizations like Soulful Synergy LLC, and Komodo Martial Arts Academy, we also equip our participants with valuable trade skills and facilitate job placement opportunities post-graduation. Operating primarily in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties, our programs are designed to empower youth with core values such as respect, discipline, responsibility, confidence and a common sense of strength among the community we serve.

A Safe, Structured Program That Builds Stronger Futures
Grab the Gloves operates out of Komodo Martial Arts Academy in Lauderhill, Florida, providing a safe, structured, and supportive environment for young adolescent teens. Our program is designed to redirect youth toward healthy lifestyles, positive decision-making, and long-term success through fitness, education, and career readiness.
We focus on developing the whole child—physically, mentally, socially, and practically.
💪 Fitness & Physical Development
Our fitness programs promote discipline, confidence, and accountability through:
- Muay Thai, Kickboxing & Boxing
- Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ)
- Soccer & Basketball
- Running Club
- Supervised Weightlifting
These activities help teens channel energy positively while building self-esteem and respect.
🛡️ Violence Interruption Program (VIP)
Location TBD
The Violence Interruption Program is a gun safety education workshop designed for teens who express interest in firearms. This program is taught by law enforcement professionals and was established by Police Chief William Shultz, a sponsor and supporter of Grab the Gloves.
The program emphasizes:
- Firearm safety and responsibility
- Legal awareness and consequences
- De-escalation and conflict prevention
- Community accountability
🧠 Career Readiness & Leadership Training
We offer structured workshops to introduce youth to service-based career pathways:
- Security Guard Training
- Military Readiness Workshops
🛠️ Vocational Training Opportunities
Our vocational workshops expose teens to in-demand trades, we also focus on trade skills that are non-AI capable: (More workshops to come). Including:
- HVAC
- Plumbing
- Construction
- Audio & Video Production
These programs encourage work ethic, skill development, and career exploration.
💰 Financial Literacy Education
Led by Academy Director Darwin Jarmillo, our financial literacy program teaches youth:
- Budgeting and saving habits
- Credit awareness
- Financial responsibility and planning
